This article is one of a series of articles introduced by Flawed Reasons to Believe in God. If you’re new to the series, you should read the Introduction before (or after) reading the material below.

This chapter is not meant to provide an exhaustive list. There are far too many examples of egregious contradictions. The book claims to be the inspired word of the omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent creator of the Universe. I will list its most egregious contradictions here: those that make it evident that the Bible is the work of fallible men.

Religious apologists can satisfactorily explain some seeming biblical contradictions. I will do my best to leave such issues out of this chapter. If I fail in that goal, please message me or comment with details on the error.

The first and most significant is a meta-contradiction: the Catholic Old Testament, which is the Tanakh of Judaism, claims to be the complete law of God. But we are supposed to believe that an omniscient being somehow forgot to mention that, after delivering his law for all of the ages to Moses, he planned to impregnate a virgin with himself so he could sacrifice himself to himself so that blood magic could allow him to forgive the rules he created.
