There’s an interesting article in Medium today. It addresses your split-vote concern and postulates it’s the DNC plan to ensure they get Biden even though he will lose badly to Trump and, by 2024, Trump will own the courts and have nullified the 22nd Amendment.

This strategy again proves that the self-styled DNC elites are dumber than a bag of hammers. They fear Bernie winning (he would trounce Trump if the ran with party support). The rightly think their current crop of corporate lobbyists would stop dropping cash in party muckety-muck’s laps. They would rather lose to Trump with Bernie, but keep their cash cow, than beat Trump with Bernie.

They can’t see that a different set of corporate denizens, the clean energy lobby, etc., would step in for a place in the Green New Deal. But their miscalculation is far worse than discounting the greening of America. If they let Trump win, he will have the courts stuffed with ideologue judges and justices and the 22nd Amendment repealed by 2024. Lobbyists are not going to waste millions on losers who will never wield power again.
